Squat/Mallet sealed JL (in swash caps) with hunting dog/fox crest. Nice interesting armorial seal and superb C1750 bottle. Dark colour (actually a rare light amber colour), lighter weight than its brother, deep kickup with ***definite evidence of a double pontil or two parts of the pontil have been attached to the base. Nice early lip with thin string rim below lip pulling in neck of bottle. Good classic shape and proportions. Excellent condition all round.

Blackglass (mid olive green), shallow kickup with  rough sandpontil, c1670 marvered lower body shape, sloped shoulders into wide based long tapering neck,through wide saturn stingrim, wel below everting sheared off refired lip. Coat of arms are Mahon of Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Sir Nicholas Mahon (d. 1680) was High Sheriff in 1664,1666 and 1674. He was a loyal military commander to both Charles 1 and Charles II.
