Unusual deep bodied bulbous shape, upturned inside base rim with three applied block feet, unevenly spaced.short neck with applied rounded lip. ground flat top. Unusual variation and intriguing talking point. 6”H, 5”D

I0510S.BAIKIERN.X   Rare and important Naval Seal, 3pm halfsize cylinder c1840 sealed well to mid body “J.BAIKIE/R.N” with good seal lip edge, blackglass (dark olive green) full original surface gloss, deep conical kickup with rough sand pontil, whittled straight sides, to horizontal mold line, round shoulders to long narrow neck through conjoined double downtooled applied stringrim and lip. Captain John Baikie Royal Navy was father of the famous William Balfour Baile, the Scottish adventurer. This bottle is the only example showing the RN initals for Royal Navy association. A rare and historic item in excellent condition.

J0801.LIPUTILITY.M   Rare and intersting early freeblown (dipmold) cylinder short necked utility c1780, blackglass (dark olive green) near full original surface gloss, light iusage wear , deep kickup with quatrefoil pontil, sagged base whittled sides, various crude bubbles and tears and striations, rounded shoulders into short stubby neck going through downtooled string rim below simple sheared off reannealed lip slightly everted. Small insignificant nibbles to lip. 6”H, 2 3/4”D
